Volunteer

Charlotte Zoological Park is in the beginning stages of progress and we need your help! Since we are starting from the ground up our volunteers are afforded the unique opportunity to be a part of something meaningful and long-standing.

At the moment, our staff is very small and we depend on committed volunteers to help us run the office, conduct education and outreach programs, promote awareness in their everyday lives, and carry out fundraising activities. Therefore, we ask that anyone who wishes to volunteer for Charlotte Zoological Park to plan on dedicating at least two full days or attend two events each month.

Keep in mind we are in the process of determining our specie ambassadors and becoming a USDA licensed facility. Once we do so, those animals will afford us the special opportunity to help educate and promote our mission to the community. This will also provide an opportunity for our volunteers to help construct interim habitats, care for the grounds, and assist caring for the animals.

Please note: You will be required to attend a volunteer orientation prior to volunteering with us. Email inquiries to the info@charlottezoologicalpark.org account will be responded to within 48 hours and completed volunteer applications will be responded to within 24 hours.

For safety reasons, Charlotte Zoological Park cannot accept volunteers under 18, unless accompanied by a legal guardian(s).

As a volunteer applicant, I am willing to make a six-month commitment to the CZP as I realize training is required for me to perform specialized tasks. A $30 deposit is required (at the same time you submit this application) for all new volunteers in order to minimize losses by CZP when a volunteer fails to complete their required six-month term. However, the $30 deposit will be gladly refunded to all volunteers who successfully complete their six-month obligation.

Volunteers are required to combine work days to reach their 2 day minimum each month. Volunteers will be on a training and “trial” basis for up to the first six months of their volunteering and will be notified if management feels they are unable to fulfill their duties and tasks within that initial time period.

I fully understand that all work performed for CZP is completely unpaid, (however your volunteer mileage is tax deductible) and I will not be reimbursed for my time, or gifts to CZP – and by signing this agreement, I will hold harmless Charlotte Zoological Park, Inc., its Board of Directors, management staff, employees, volunteers, and animals from any and all liability in the event of personal injury or damage to my personal property, while I am volunteering or participating in any activities, events, errands, or other duties for the organization whether it be on-site or off-site.
